Organizational & Team Effectiveness
We offer Governance and Repurposing services, including resetting baseline, zero basing, and working with teams to achieve top quartile performance.
Our Governance and Repurposing™ team provides services to energy and technology companies at the threshold of defaulting. This can either be on delivery of value to shareholders and/or compliance with regulatory or HSSE standards and performance. These defaults can be traced to systemic weaknesses, wherein company management and supervisory teams have fallen short of meeting expected standardsover the years, to the point that changing leadership at the top level or replacing staff does not make any fundamental difference.
In these cases, changes including local/national laws, staffing levels, leadership style, poor maintenance and asset management, may have shocked the organization. Furthermore, it could have affected the bottom line or caused the organization to take its eyes of the ball, resulting in decline in company stock prices, poor return on shareholder invested capital or repeated significant HSSE incidents with all the attendant impact on company reputation. Two examples below will suffice.
Scenarios
Company ‘A’ recorded repeated miss on financial targets resulting in the firing and replacement of the CEO by the board.
Company ‘B had repeated significant safety incidents (3 fatalities, 4 lost time injuries and 2 significant environmental incidents) resulting in frontline staff unease, community complaints and shareholder intervention.
Our company was called to explore the causal factors and recommend sustainable improvements in each of the two scenarios above. If you are faced with similar challenges, we recommend that you resist the urge to RESTRUCTURE your organization. Instead, call on us to assess your organization, the systems and processes in place versus the people and challenges, and make recommendations. If we are unable to deliver, you get a refund on your investment in our company.
Our model follows a 3-step approach:
- Listen
- Learn and
- Lead
Sit in room with top management during routine meetings. Listen to the conversation, understand the organization’s current realities (point A) and establish the organization’s desired future state (point B). Thereafter, we map the company’s risk profile, the stakeholders and their expectation. Then, we prepare a transformation map with staircases from point A to B with clear timeline and accountabilities. We can work the issues directly or as consultants on part time. Either way regular performance reviews and recovery is critical to success.
